If you didn't have body side mouldings, would it be worth putting them on? Gen 6

That sure is a big smooth door, looks susceptable to dents. I ]would have thought that an XLE would have them standard, but apparently not. I'm thinking about adding them, not sure it's worth it. What do you think? Also wondering if they come color keyed or if they need to be painted?

You can get them painted (from Toyota). You find that anyone who parks too close will find a way to put a ding above, below or right on your molding. If you buy it know that, you'll be much happier later.

I did it to mine, but it was a big decision to like or dislike the looks of them. They're just ok in my book, but they've taken some hits I'll tell ya.
Yes, they come colored to the car. Follow instructions (found here) closely. Just don't go slapping them on with huge gaps between the front/back doors like I see alot.
Remember to prep the surface real good.

Nice pic. Got an old goat myself.

i personally hate how the body side molding looks and would never install it but to each his own. There are also cheaper alternatives on ebay. Good luck.

I'm just the opposite. I hate the slab sided new cars. The moldings break up otherwise boring doors and give the vehicle a horizontal line that is interesting. I would only go fo something nicely sculpted and colormatched though.

by cheaper alternatives i mant that some vendors sell the same molding in OEM quality for cheaper than the stealership has it for. And like i said before to each his own, as long as you love the way your car looks thats all that counts bro. Good luck with your purchase.

Contact the Toyota parts guy here for your best price. Should you have them? Yes. I am at the point of needing to sand and paint mine. They have been bashed that many times. Without them, I would need 4 new doors. No joke.

Gen6

Many times they have saved my doors from careless people who park to close than bang the door with no thought or concern.
I have even tried to park away from everyone else at work, at shopping malls, etc only to find when I return a car parked right next to me, even though we are the only two cars in the area.

My Camry came with them from the dealership, and really add a lot (imo) to the blank sided doors. I agree that they are well worth it.

I believe it when everyone here says they are ugly... they truly are, but here in MN no matter how far you park away, people are just magnetized by my car... WTF $@%#@$, so I had to buy them, wish I bought them when I bought the car, but luckily I only have one small dent... and yea I have noticed more damage after I put the moldings on. I mean its worth it if you bought the car brand new and you wanna "protect your investment" but later down the road i will take them off.
