Am I the only one who HATES this sliding console in an XLE?
What a piece of crap! If I leave it extended it tends to stay there, if I slide it back, every time I hit the brakes it wants to slide forward! I had a Prius as a loaner and at least that one clicks in the forward and back position and doesn't have a mind of its own. I'm debating on running screw up thru the darn thing!
Maybe it can be disassembled and tightened up???

I don't know, but it could be replaced for about $140.00.

Mine has a positive detention spot at both positions, in fact a bit stiff to move.
The OEM replacement lid is stiffer on the slide, and has a stronger lid lift spring than the OEM original. (Replaced under warrenty for temperature related POPS... worse than the crispy cereal.)

I just bought an 09 XLE. (Wife's car) She just loves it. hearts seats, sun roof
I'm ok with it but the shifting Arm rest center console is the dumbest thing I ever saw.
It stays in the foward position until I start to exit the car, then when I lean on it, it slides out from under me and I look like some drunk trying to get out of car.
lol
How can I lock it in place.. Maybe a long screw through it..

You could figure out the way the tension is applied, then shim the part or put in a stiffer spring.
On a side note, have you tried to open the lid while it is in the forward position? (What a real PITA, I would not lock it in the forward position.)
My replacement part has a very positive stop in the stowed and forward position, it doesn't move like the original at all. Even the lid stays up when on a forward downward incline, where the original would flop closed and I had to hold it up with one hand while rummaging with the other...

I know what you mean about trying to open the lid while in the forward position. I'm used to my Tacoma which is like being in the rearward position att the time. I actually liked the one in the rental Prius that I had, If I could get mine to work better, maybe it would be OK.
Any instructions of disassembling it before I rip into it?

No, I don't, the dealer changed mine out.
