5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
honest guys, a little gusseting of those stock mounts and that 23mm bar will be fine.
By strengthening that bracket you will be creating a new weak link. If the bracket can't give who knows what else will. All of that extra force will be transferred to the subframe and I don't want to see whats gonna give.

I disagree. the weak link is just moved up to the next stronger part. Those bolts are massive. if the frame can't handle it, you're using the car in a manor that it is not designed or modified enough to be used in. You've found the limit in which you can use the car, right? Are you satisfied that it's the best the car can do?
i doubt it. I wouldn't be anyway...
It can be much much more, with just a little more effort.
If the new part snaps, then it's evidence. but what broke on the car is a red herring for getting rid of the 23mm bar.
My new weakest link is the rigid brake line that got bashed when the bracket failed. Part #47321-06090 for those that are interested. cheap enough part, but I think I may have to drop the gas taknk to get it routed properly.
Truth is, I got the 23mm rsb for S's & G's. I don't track my car or drive it that spiritedly. I can live with the stock rsb. Red herring (perhaps). So far we've got 3 examples of the part failing in this thread. I simply don't want to go through any additional hassle like this if the part fails again.
I'm assuming you don't have coilovers? You must be pushing the car pretty hard around the corners tho for this to happen, props to you. First time I've heard of someone breaking those pieces.
This is actually a common problem in most of the older Civics and last generation Integras when the rear sway is upgraded to a large piece. Thus a company called ASR developed a subframe brace, which counters this very problem. Check out the pics below.
This is what a RSB looks like bolted up with no reinforcement.
Here, you see the brackets attached to the subframe brace, the large silver part in the middle.
Now, I'm currently working with a fabricator to make me a custom one-off pieces so I don't suffer from the mishap you did

she was on coils for maybe 15-20K miles with the rsb. Haha. Let us know how much it costs to get that piece fabed and maybe ill be interested

i have a 07 camry le and about 3 months ago i replaced my stock sway bar which is 16mm with the ultra racing 23mm. two days ago i realize that because the bar is so rigid and heavy it broke the metal plate that supports the sway bar and stabilizer links. this plate is bolted onto the chasis on the left and right side, and from the looks of it, its not that thick. this was a nightmere for me. Is there anyone out there that has experienced this; let me know. I'm really thinking of going back stock or trying the ultra racing 19mm.
i had the 19mm and one bracket snapped. I replaced both for like $100 and took me about 45 mins of labor

the h&r's ride nice...sporty but not uncomfortable. My sunroof rails do make a little more noise now that its cold here in jersey when the chasis flexes. Still love the ride
