So as most of you know, i bought a set of 19in MRR HR2 wheels from a local seller and mounted some BFGoodrich KDW's on them. I have driven on them for about 4000 miles and decided to rotate the wheels last weekend. After rotating the wheels i noticed a vibration at speeds of 60-65mph so i went to a friends shop and he threw the wheels onto a roadhunter balancer only to find out the wheels where not only just out of balance but the 3 out of the 4 wheels are slightly bent. We were really suprised how easy they bent over the period i have had them and ive only had them for about 2 months, mind you ive driven very carefully with them and never driven over a pothole with them, just slight bumps and small gaps from road wear and tear. The wheels when i first purchased from a local seller was perfectly round and had no issues. Just wanted to give guys the heads up with MRR wheels to be careful and for the guys that are interested in the wheels, i would think twice about your choice.

The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to aznlunatic206 For This Useful Post:
Wow, that's so unfortunate, but can't say I'm not surprised. I dont know if MRR's would be classified as "fake/replica" wheels (I would put them there), or just cheap for sure. I really wish that these companies would post their stress/strain testing methods and if they pass regulations or not..
A few questions though, I'm concerned about these wheels as well.
1) How were the weather conditions on your last 4000 miles?
2) What size were the tires?
3) the lugnuts were properly torqued and tires/wheels balanced
4) do you have any pictures?
Anyway, I'm really sorry that this had to happen to you. So unfortunate
But thank you for reporting it to the TN community. Might deter other people from
buying from MRR and avoid this.
Thanks for the info, I just got a set of MRR GT1 Blacks and I hope I don't have the same problem, or maybe you were just one of the unfortunate ones. I'll keep an eye on mine. I don't think MRR are replica wheels since their wheels I have not seen them copy anyone elses wheel design.
Yes, give them a call plz. I'm sure they'd replace your wheels or do something.
Damn cast wheels! It's unfortunate that it happens, but you get what you pay for and it sucks that quality isn't cheap at all.
This belongs in the thread with my broken Varrstoen!
Thanks for the heads up. This is why I've always been a big advocate of authentic high quality wheels. Contact the manufacturer and see if they are willing to replace the entire set. Then sell them and upgrade to better wheels.

The problem is with the quality control of the casting process from the manufacturer, not with the cast wheels themselves. Some brands offer cast wheels which are comparable in strength and rigidity to forged wheels.

Yea i was really surprised how easy they bent from normal driving conditions, I just sent them an email and hopefully I'll get a response back soon and ill let you guys know what they say. I didnt even know they had a lifetime structural warranty until you guys told me, so thank you for lettting me know. I'm just glad i didn't spend a crap ton of money on them, picked them up locally for $600, but still a big chunk of cash for a wheel that only lasted 2 months.
Weather conditions has been just wet since I've had the wheels on, dry and raining. Tire size was a 235/35/19. Lug nuts where torqued to 95ft lbs and balanced all properly when i had the tires mount, i went to my friends tire shop that he works at, very reputable since the shop sells highend tires like michelin supersports, sport cups, r1, ect. to track customers on a daily biases and was mounted using a touchless machine. I could take pictures but the bends are so slight you can only see it when rotating on the balancer.
In the mean time, im borrowing a set of 17in enkei pf01's with tires from my friend and all i can say is after driving on them for the past day or so, i absolutely love my car. These MRR HR2's where boat anchors compared to these super light enkei's. If MRR replaces my wheels, ill most likely sell them and get a better quality wheel this time around.

Maybe that's why my old HR5 rim was leaking air.. That and the chipping paint everywhere in the inside!!
Not to mention i have areas of paint chips along the inside of the lip where the bead sits, and the finish is super easy to scratch, one rock chip and it leaves a mark..

And I just got my cracks in mine redone... oh well, Ill prolly use them a bit, (Got 2 free tires ) and sell em off to some Acura TL guys... They really seem to love the wheels
Aznlunatic, thanks so much for lettin me know before I had allready put em on.
Got an email response today and in a short nice way of saying it, I'm SOL on the wheels and are not covered under their lifetime warranty. Looks like its time for me to shop for some better quality wheels.
