5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys, the other day a good friend of mine got a brand new 2013 Subaru WRX. He has Bluetooth in his car just like I do in my 2007 Camry SE. However he can play music wirelessly from his phone to his car with Bluetooth and I was wondering, can i do the same? He said you can set it up for either phone, music, or music and phone. Anyone know anything about this? Id love to do away with the stupid AUX cord. Thanks!
Not sure if this works on the non nav units but on the nav units (at least on mine) there's a BT audio setup menu where you can pair your bluetooth audio devices, it's separate from the phone pairing.
Might be something incorporated in the later model camrys

well ive done some research and i found a tutorial on how to pair a bluetooth audio device to the non navigation stereo but it was in your year Camry. Im gonna try it on mine in hopes that it works. So it works on the Gen 6.5 non nav stero but on Gen 6 is TBD. Thanks for your help and ill let you know what i find out!!
I am pretty sure you can only connect your phone via BT for using your phone as a phone and not for music. I think you can only do what you want it to do on newer Camry's with Nav. I may be wrong but my mom has a 2009 without Nav and I can only pair for making calls, on my 2011 with Nav, I can do both.

I think when they changed to the black-screened non-nav radios is when they allowed BT audio. My 2011 Camry has that option. But I don't think non-nav 2007-2009 Camrys can play BT audio.

Yeah after some research, thats what i have come up with. It was available from 10-11 (on the gen 6.5) and not on the 07-09 (on the gen 6). Just like what you guys said. Oh well guess ill have to stick to the auxiliary port! Thanks all for your help!
^As far as I know you have to do each one individually by sending the name card to the radio via Bluetooth. That's what I did on mine and it shows up with names. However, it takes so long I only entered in about 3 numbers.

The radio will give you options to enter in a phone number, by voice or by phone. If you select phone it will wait for you to get to your phone.
In your phone find the contact you want to enter and hit settings. Towards the bottom of the screen there's an option that says "Send via bluetooth". Once you select that, go back to your radio and prompt the car to search for the contact you are sending from your phone. It does take a few seconds.
Also, just so you know, not all phones allow you to send contacts via bluetooth. My old LG EnV3 could and my current Samsung Stratosphere will do that also.

yeah because the Camry was the Gen 6 from 2007-2009 and the update for the 6.5 was made during '10 &'11 and that is the bodystyle i believe the music option was offered. Unless there's something i dont know about the XLE or the Nav.

This is why i dont mess with factory decks. they can limit you a lot. I have an aftermarket pioneer. Needless to say, the 5K tracks on my Blackberry plays with a breeze and music can also be controlled by steering wheel controls.
