wheel and tire suggestions for gen 5

hi all,

i've been here a while and i must say that TN really kicks ass.

i have a 2002 gen 5 and the trd springs for it. i plan on getting a new set of wheels, possibly racing harts gunmetal C5, silver CX, or C4 (all of them are 205/40/17). i'm thinking about the 17"s. i'm more function over form and i'm thinking that 17" are best suited for handling.

my real question is... once i install the springs, will the new wheels/tires rub or conflict with lowered car?

any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

btw, the car is phantom gray pearl.

First off, those tires 205/40/17 are way too small for a Gen 5. You should be using 215/50/17 or 225/50/17 (or maybe even 225/45/17).

I doubt it will rub, unless you lower it more than 2" or so....

205 are pretty narrow for 17 inch rims. I agree with silver streak, 215 or 225 are definitely the way to go. And if you can find them, the new GoodYear Assurance TripleTred tires are pretty awesome. I got a set of 4 about two weeks ago. They grip like no other and handles nicely. Plus you get to try them for 30 days, if you hate them, trade them for something else no question asked.

mkII,

My Gen5 is a 2004 SE. It came with 215/60-16 stock so you can go with that width no problem. I just finished lowering my Camry using TRD's. I'm ordering Kazera 18x7.5 chrome rims along with BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW-2 225/45 -18. So if you could wait awhile I'll have pics posted in a month or so and I could let you know how they fit.

cool mikey. keep me posted on that.

so far the wheel/tire package comes with the 205/40/17. i plan on getting them about the time i need new tires. kill two birds with one stone.

the C5s do look good, but everytime i see the C4s it starts to look a lot better.

Tire Rack
Kazera's 18x7.5 = $275 ea.
G-Force T/A KDW2 = $168 ea.

The reason I'm going with Chromes is because my car is soo dark. If my car was a lighter color I would consider a Gun Metal or Black( SP1 Proffessors ). I just feel there needs to be a contrast. Running a dark rim my car would look like a stealth mobile. IMHO

My possibilities so far.

Kazera KZ-A 18x7.5 +40mm
American Racing Casino 18x8 +40mm

Opinions? Any other Chrome 18" x 7.5" or 8" rims that you think look good post it so I can take a look.

Thanx,

Mike
