hi, i just ordered a sportivo grille for my gen 5 and i probably want to get it painted to match the car. how much do you suppose it'd cost, and is there any specific instructions i should tell the painters regarding the paint job?
thanks.

just give them the paint code and they should know what to do. It should be just a 2-stage process. 1 base coat and 1 clear coat, unless u want 2 clear coats but i don't think it's necessary.

check the door jams on the driver or passenger side. it's gonna be diff. just like the other millions of cars out there. just write as much down as u can and maybe can go off that or they should hava a data base w/ the factory colors for that make and year.

i think i had the option to if i asked, but i bet that would've been an extra $100+ i don't want to spend right now and it would've taken too long to get here. it only took 3 days to get here from australia.

it should be less than $100. The piece isn't that big, is it? They should use less than a pint on it(base coat) and about the same for the clear coat, oh and they got to prime it first. I had the two front piece on my matrix painted for like $50 but it was still under warranty so i didn't have to pay it but that's how much it was. It just depends though u should ask maybe u can get the paint yourself.
it says that's it's already primed. should it be primed again.
thanks xrs22 for all your info.

My vizage grill cost $100 to paint, but they also primed it...I wasn't sure if it was primed or not, before I asked, the cost would have been $80, so you may pay less if it's ready to be painted
if it's already primed then it doesn't need a second coat. It shouldn't be that much to paint because there's no extra body work that needs to be done.

Mine cost me $100 to paint, but I have Salsa Red Pearl for my color, and that paint itself is like $45 for half a pint... on top of that, I had to pay the guy for materials... like paint reducer, and clear coat and stuff... but he did an awesome job, so its cool.
