Generally this is a symptom of air in the cooling system. Some cars have a bleeder screw for the cooling system to allow air to escape. In general, you run the car with the screw open, and the heater running on low (so that the heater core is circulating fluid).
If there is no screw sometimes a hand vacuum pump (Mityvac, etc) that takes the place of the radiator cap (this is a Mityvac accessory) can allow you to remove air from the system.
If you are under warranty (which you ought to be) take it to the dealer, they should be able to easily remedy the problem.
