5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've had this question bugging me ever since I got a reply from one of the ebay sellers selling the lip spoilers for the gen 5 Camry. The reply was that the lip spoiler would not fit on a 05 Camry, no explanation. Then I came across this thread on camryman forums. Here's the link: http://www.camryman.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1500 If you read the 5th post (by camrymaker) he mentions that the trunk lid is different in the 05 gen 5.5 Camry than the 02-04 gen 5 Camry. Can anybody confirm this?
On a sidenote: not getting any aftermarket part unless it specifically says it's for the 05 Camry unless assured by manufacturer/seller.

What the heck?! That ain't true. A 03-04 Camry and the 05 Camrys are the same. Only difference is the taillights. How I know? My dad owns a 03 I own a 05. Same measurements and dimension.
Also, TRD Lowering Springs and Strutbars are the same from an 02-04 and a 05.
And......rear seats gets their own headrest? My dad's 03 Camry has them.
Hm...So the changes of the tails were only color wise? And they didn't change at all? Meaning like how the headlights between gen 4 and 4.5 don't fit each other but look everymuch alike.
I think I should clarify more....sorry guys, what I'm referring to is not cosmetic changes but changes to the chassis and the bodywork itself (excluding taillights and headlights) like the trunk lid in question. I would've thought that they'd carry over the entire car from 2004 and just slap on new lights and the center console along with minor refinements in tuning and such.

Hmmm....the center console are the same. except some minor changes. The chassis and dimensions in other wise are the same. If you check it with the 02-04 camry brochures with the 05, they're similar. Only some are different in numbers.
Yup. So are the wirings. But the headlight wirings should be the same, just switched around. So, it'll be hard to hook up a 05 headlights into a 02-04.

Don't know where this guy gets his info from.
the middle seat gets a headrest in the g5.5 so its 3 in the back instead of the used to be 2
xpeed, can you compare the trunk lid on your dad's Camry with yours? I'm curious as to whether the claims the guy made in the camryman.org forum is right or not.
