5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The cruise control is most likely not compatible. I think there's only 3 wires to the airbag (positive/ground/trigger) , just need to find out which wire is which.
screw the air bags they suck they do more damage than good get tue cruise to work and you will be fine toyotas are dammed safe cars check it out.
i know they dont go off on a side impact but some dumb ass backed in to me in a parkinglot while i was sitting there waiting for a buddy who went to get smokes and they go off i got replacements for them and never reconnected and im never gonna reconnect them i dissconnected them in the camry the day i got the car.
Yeah, the splines will match up. You'll probably have to wire the cruise and horn to your existing connector but it can be done. The airbag is 2 color keyed wires. Ratko and Tony The Tiger have that wheel. I want one as well but my Supra wheel suits me well enough for the time being.
Yo Mobes - longest time. Hows the Cam in Montana? I didn't know you went with a Supra wheel. How did you connect yours? You get connector or splice? I had ordered a supra wheel but got stiffed a while back. The 5 speed a raging success?
ekim55121: Lucky to be alive, hope everyone is okay. Looks like a total, you get a replacement yet?
The Supra one was a direct fit. The connectors were the same. The splines are about half a notch off though, I can't get it centered. One spot it's a few degrees to the left when driving straight, go one notch to the right and it's off a few degrees the other way.
The 5 speed has been treating me well. I finally got my clutch engagement height adjusted last week, now it's even better. Such a simple thing but I'd been putting it off. My latest project was my exhaust: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t61274.html
I'm working on fixing a leak in the rear flange, I can't get a nut on the stud because of clearance issues with the tranny. I got a socket head cap bolt though, I'm hoping that will fit with a little persuasion.
Mobes,
Okay for the Supra steering, I know an alignment shop knows how to do that one because when I got tran replaced the steering wasn't straight ahead. I fudged with it by taking s/wheel off but it never was right. I went back and they did it in what seemed like a minute once it was on the rack. They did adjustment under the car and were real quick about it. I wish I was looking so I could tell you how they did it, most important - it can be done.
I saw that sweet exhaust mod, I was going to ask how it did for your power and milage. I was going to suggest you keep as much of your stock stuff in place so you could tell how much your Y helped. More power to you bud and good wishes.
PM when you are in OR again, might want to drive and check your ride out.
