USA my Camry 03 makes loud noise from engine room!

It has happened for several months. I got a certified used car from Car-Max last January and my car is Camry 2003.

It has been several months that there is RATTLE noise from Engine room and it is louder and louder nowadays. Somedays, the noise is very quiet like normal but often time it's very noisy. I open the front to see and notice that the noise come from somewhere beneath the engine (or the engine). Brought my car into a Toyota dealer and the technician changed BELT for me but the noise is not gone.

I don't understand why couldn't the technician find the problem because the noise is very apparent and I compare with many of my friends who own Camry as well but they have no noise like this.

I don't know what to do about it. I am a student and still have to finance my car but it annoys me everyday with this noise.

please suggest.

thanks

Take it to a local shop, its free diagnosing? but then you might get overcharged as it seems you don't know a lot about cars?

Well, yeah, not much idea about car. I was thinking of showing it to local shop but am afraid of being overcharged. My car is still only 31K miles and I believe still under 50k powertrain warranty.

please guide me.

Take it to a different Toyota Dealer if you have to, the mechanic would not acknowledge the noise?, document the problem more for them and when your in the shop show them what you are talking about.

The didn't find anything when I went two weeks ago but instead changed me the belt for free and didn't charge me anything.

Since it is under warranty, you really need to stick with the toyota dealership. Call them up on the telephone first (when you have a little time), make another appointment, if you have to tell them you want a FREE rental car for the day while they spend the whole day screwing around/evaluating it.

Is it a rattling sound? Check the connection between the exhaust pipe that comes from the engine (header is the term) and the first straight part after it. On my mom's car there is a rattle, that's where it seems to come from, and rattles more when you step on the gas (more exhaust gas flowing through = more rattle).
