Unhappy my Camry 03 makes loud rattle noise! please help

It has happened for several months. I got a certified used car from Car-Max last January and my car is Camry 2003.

It has been several months that there is RATTLE noise from Engine room and it is louder and louder nowadays. Somedays, the noise is very quiet like normal but often time it's very noisy. I open the front to see and notice that the noise come from somewhere beneath the engine (or the engine). Brought my car into a Toyota dealer and the technician changed BELT for me but the noise is not gone.

I don't understand why couldn't the technician find the problem because the noise is very apparent and I compare with many of my friends who own Camry as well but they have no noise like this.

I don't know what to do about it. I am a student and still have to finance my car but it annoys me everyday with this noise.

please suggest.

thanks

Is the noise coming from the front of the engine? Is it more apparent when throttle is openned up? Open the hood and give it some gas and see if you can pinpoint from which area the noise is coming from......

My guess is a loose heatshield, possible over/under the exhaust manifold......a very common, easilly and cheaply fixed problem. Good luck.

I will bring it to the dealer and see, if not I will bring to another dealer. I am sure there is something needs to be fixed, probably minor as you said. It's really annoying.

Don't bring it to the dealer......
Most Lube shops will do this inspection for free, whereas your dealer with porbably charge you .5 of an hour($35.00?). Most of the time you don't even need the part in question, so the dealer will also have you replace the part($$$$$Parts/Labour$$$$$).

but my car is still under warranty. It's certified car and it's now only 31K. I checked with Toyota and was told that I have up to 50K or 6 years powertrain.

I went to check with my dealer once about two weeks ago. They didn't charge me anything. The technician just changed the belt for me and the noise didnt dissapear.

Please suggest.

so, should I bring it to dealer??? The dealer I went lately didn't seem to be that good and nice to me. I could see that she, service staff, was kind of annoyed when I called and asked about something. She said she would call back and I don't know if she will insist that there is no problem with it or not, if so, I will then have to go to another dealer.

please suggest....

The heat shields and exhaust will NOT be covered under a power train warranty. The power train is you engine and transmission. Call the sevice advisor and ask them if they are going to charge you to inspect the rattle. If they are...then go to your local lube shop. Good luck
