Keyless entry for an 2005 Camry Standard (CE)?

Hi all -

Newbie here and posting for a friend whose English skills aren't the greatest in the world. He purchased a new 2005 Camry standard (CE?), which is basically an LE minus the power driver's seat, full size spare, keyless entry, and color keyed mirrors.

He wanted to know if anyone knew if the Camry (standard/CE) had the keyless sensor already installed and if it would just be a matter of getting keyless remotes and programming those for his car, or does he he have to go out and purchase a full remote entry kit. Thanks!

No. CE's or Standard you should say, don't come with a keyless entry as an option. So there's no keyless entry sensors installed in the car. If he wants one, he'll either have to get a aftermarket or one from the dealers. Unless I'm wrong, someone correct me.

In my opinion, he should of paid a extra $2000 for a LE. Get more for his money.

Thanks for the feedback. Considering that he got his Standard for only $15K (brand new), an extra couple hundred for the keyless isn't gonna hurt him too much. And as he is the only driver of the car, he didn't feel the need for the power driver's seat.

I have a 2004 Standard (from when the Standard was first introduced midyear), and it includes the power driver's seat and colored side mirrors. Can't beat it for <$16,000. Why would someone pay $2000 for keyless entry, a full-sized spare, colored side mirrors and a power driver's seat if they'd be happy without them?

Anyway, all but the cheapest after market alarm systems include remote control keyless entry. I had a decent one installed for $275. Presto -- keyless entry.
