2001 626 vs 2005 Camry

Hi, on my 01 626 4cyl going 65mph requires close to 3000rpm, but my 05 camry 4cyl was hovering around or under 2000. I though only V6 engines do that.

Is this due to their vvti engine? or something is wrong with my camry?
also the camry feels like it's going slow even when the tech says 60.

Thanks

first of all your camry is light years ahead of the 626. New Camry's have a 5th overdrive automatic gear. People want high speed and low RPM. That means your car eats less gas and has a much higher top speed. The car feels slower at 60 mph is because it requires less effort than a 626. The Camry's gearing and aerodynamics is practically driving itself.

2 different cars and makes. take a porch and a camry and you will see the same thing but porchas are made with more power. and run better at higher rpms.

probably just the gear ratio is different between the two cars, doesn't have to be vvti

if the vehicle is well made and solid, good noise insulation, you won't feel the speed,
on the other hand, if you have leaky windy noise from windows, and rattling inscrease portional to speed, then psychologically, you ears exagerate the speed to your brain
