Can I Retrofit 2005 Camry SE Headlights to a 2002 Camry LE???
I just purchased a 2002 Camry LE and have done some customizing already such as tinting my windows and adding vent visors and pen stripes to the side of my car. I wanted to know if its possible to retrofit the entire headlight assembly of the 2005 Camry SE's to a 2002 Camry LE because I know there are four headlamps in the 2005's as opposed to three in the 02s-04s. Can anyone provide some insight?
maybe if you find a wire harness to splice the wires. im not sure how the wires are and how the headlight functions on a 02... all i know is 05 has 4 lamps. blinker/ high/ low/ and jus some thas on.
It's possible, but the wiring won't be long enough. because the signal bulb is towards the inside of the headlight, unlike the gen 5 where it's towards the outside.
If you're comfortable making your own harness, here are the part numbers for the connectors:
Parking light: 90980-10887
Turn signal light: Same as 2002 connector for US-made models, 90980-11019 for Japan-made models (I guess get your headlights first, then see if your existing connector will fit into the turn signal light plug)
The solid green wires are for the parking light, and the green wires with a colored stripe are for the turn signals (yellow stripe for left, black stripe for right). Hopefully this will be helpful to someone.
I suppose I'd better just invest in HID as someone else suggested...come to think of it I actually like the headlights on the 02-04s better anyway...
I'm not geek when it comes to customizing ANY car so can anyone be kind enough to explain in laymens terms how I can install HID--something I originally wanted to do but knew it cast a ridiculous amount of money.
If I'm not mistaken, basically you'll need to adapt the HID from another car's headlights that originally came with HID to your headlights.
I like the older headlights too, only because the turn signal light is on the outside where it's more visible. Seems like there are just too many bulbs on the 2005's.

Either look on Ebay or Talk to Xenith. He is one of the vendors here and he should be able to get you and awesome deal and point you in the right direction. From his posts, he knows HID so he could definetely help you.
I appreciate the info so I sent Xenith a message so I'll see what he says. I assume that HIDs are another term for Xenon Headlights.
Nope. They are High Intense Density headlights. They are really really bright. It's what BMW and a lot of those luxury cars have. You may notice some luxury cars w/ a bluish look to their headlights from far away. Those are HID.

i don't profess to be an expert on wiring or Gen4s, but how do you have 3 headlamps when there are 4 lights that come out the front, 2 lo beams, 2 hi beams or 2 DRLs if you didn't come with hi beams?
What LunarMist meant was four bulbs in the 2005's vs. three bulbs in the 2002-4's. For the 2005's, the parking light and turn signal light are separate, but they are the same light for the 2002-4's.
And thank you everyone else for your response. I did receive a nice and detailed message back from Zenith so my question is basically answered. I personally don't see the difference between HIDs and Xenon headlights. Nissan offers some of the higher-end Atlima's and Maxima's with Xenon headlights and they look just like the HIDs I see on the Lexus ES330 and RXs so maybe its just me.
