I have a 2005 Camry SE (automatic), I always hear a ratttling sound from the rear of the vehicle. I've checked the spare tire and the jack to see if they were loose, but that wasn't the problem. When I test drove a demo, I did not hear any strange/funny noise from the rear of the demo vehicle. Does anyone hear on these forums have an idea what might be the problem? I like to find out here before I bring it into the dealership to let the technician investigate the problem.
What kind of rattling? There's like different types of rattling and need to be more specific.
It sounds like there is something loose (loose screw/bolt) in the rear of the vehicle. Every time I drive on a semi-rough roads, I always here a rattling sound. By the way, I have nothing in the trunk
i had something similar...found out that it was the...."tow tag" or something like that..not sure what it's called...looks like a thick screw...has a curcular head to it...that was sorta "rolling around where my car jack and spare tire are. right now, i have something wraped around it so that it won't make noise.
Hmmm, you should check all the screws in your trunk and rear panels. I had a similar problem with my driver door. It would always rattle and squeak. I checked it out myself and found out that a bolt was loose. Very loose, loose enough to have the door fall off. So I got my wrench and tightened that sucker. Most likely, it would be a bolt that didn't get tied down tight.
I Have that rattling too. I've figure out where mines come from.
It's from the roof lining in the rear portion. Above the Center rear passenger Head. It's very loose. I've tried to put some cotton to fill in the gap, but after a while the cotton fall inside too....damn,,
I have been unable to determine where the rattle in my vehicle is coming from. I've checked everything what everyone has mentioned and cannot find the source. I even took out the full size spare tire and jack to see if both or one of them was causing the rattling noise from the rear of the vehicle and that wasn't the problem. Does anyone have an idea or know what the problem is?
NO, I hardly doubt it. If the spoiler wont' budge a inch, it's not the spoiler. Most likely it's something loose in your car. I guess you'll find it someday. Took me a while to figure out where my squeeking noise was.
I had the same problem on my 97 avalon it was a clunking noise when hitting small bumps in the road or washboard surfaces. After replacing strut mounts and end-links i found out that it was the sway bar bushings. Definitely look into those as they are a cheap and easy fix. I did them in my driveway, took me all of 15 minutes.

You have a baby car seat installed in the back seat???
I had the same kind of noise that you described, it took me a while to figure out what it was. It was the strap that comes off of the top of the car seat. It has a metal spring clip that snaps into a ring on the rear deck. It would only rattle when the road was bumpy. Mystery Solved.
