5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2005 camry and i wanna change the muffler on it. should i also change the piping or just change the muffler. and what kinda muffler should i get? i heard magnaflows are nice, but there are so many of them. which oine should i choose. thanx
There's only a few exhaust out there for the Gen 5.5 It's been discussed many times that's why nobody is helping out.
I'd go with TRD/Borla. Magnaflow is okay, but I prefer the TRD, even though it's the same as a Borla. Intake, weapon R, K&N, and Ingen makes some good ones.

but there are no intakes dezigned for the 5.5 i even calle and asked injen y. they said there is a element in the engine that is messin it up and they are working on it. i dont wanna go with trd or borla because of $$$. i just wanted to get the magnaflow muffler to get a nuice sound
tenzo and greddy are my recommendations for mufflers. for power gains, you need to change the piping (larger diameter) possibly even hedders/downpipe or hiflo cat.
Sorry to say, neither Tenzo or Greddy makes exhausts for the Gen 5 Camrys. Get Borlas man, they're cheaper than TRDs, even though they're the same. You're only spending more $$$ on TRDs because of the name. That's all. But it's totally up to you if you still wanna go with magnaflow.
I don't know how there could be a element in the engine that's different from the Gen 5s. Gen 5.5 has the same engine as the Gen 5s, but if they say so, I can't say otherwise. My other choice would be K&N.

i seriously called injen and they told me its not safe to put a gen5 intake in a gen5.5 Why wouls they lie to me. they are trying to make money u kno. they told me to wait because it is in development
I'm just saying that it's weird that a Gen 5 and Gen 5.5 could be slightly different, even though it's the same engine. But it depends which engine you got I guess. Did you get a I-4 or the V6? SE V6 and the XLE V6 are different on the Gen 5.5s
