Want a "Skirted-Out" Camry SE....Will the 06s/07s be Available?
Hello Friends!
As a new member of the board, I would like to introduce myself and ask some questions, being that Im in the process of shopping for a new car.....
I currently own a 1999 Honda Accord EX V-6 Coupe TOTALLY loaded, with the OEM underbody kit, rear wing, fogs, leather, you name it.....in San Marino Red.....but because the car has been in two accidents already and needs a new transmission at only 58K plus the fact that I feel like Im outgrowing the whole "coupe" thing, I have my eye set on a Camry (probably SE) but it MUST have the factory body kit thats available for the car (and of course, the rear spoiler).....
My question is, I see that there is a new Camry in the works for 06/07, from the spy shots on here which make the car look gorgeous (is it FINALLY getting dual exhaust, too?), but does anyone know if these new Camrys will be available with the factory body kit as the current generation models are? If not, I will buy an 05 if need be.
Thank you everyone; looking forward to hearing back from someone who may have an answer on this!

Chances are, they will be releasing the new model without any underbody spoiler, at least for the first year or two. The Gen 5 Camry didn't receive the underbody kit until the 2004 models. It will be impractical for them to release the kit now... they'll make good sales from the new model.. and once sales begin to balance out after a couple of years, they release a model with the kit to make it more appealing, thus boosting sales once again.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Thanks White Chocolate,
Hmmmm....doesnt seem to be that good of news; so what do you recommend doing; do you think I should wait for that to happen (that is, maybe release an underbody spoiler kit for the new generation) or save cash on a sale of an 05 SE with the kit? Will I feel "left out" if Im driving the previous-generation car even though it will be skirted as I want it?
Is there any way of knowing if Toyota plans to release an underbody kit AT ALL for the new generation Camry when it comes out? Perhaps I should try contacting Toyota directly on this.....
It's even possible that the SE, or whatever they choose to name the sporty model(s), will have the kit standard, like on the Corolla S and XRS's. If you can, I'd advise you to wait until the 07 model is released, most likely in the first quarter of next year, and if it doesn't meet your expectations, get the 05 or 06 Camry. It really depends on how long you're willing to wait. The Gen 5's and the Gen 6's will share the same body platform, as the Camry goes thru an entirely new platform every 10 years, so you wouldn't be left out that much.
Well you'd better hurry up because the 2006 Camry's are already at dealerships across the country. The 06's are exactly like the 05's but Toyota is predicting offering the all-new 2007s in the Spring of next year.
i agree with whitechocolate, the factory lip kit will probably not be released in the first year, just the way they did for the gen5. Gen6 will most likely have to wait a year till it gets its lip kit. But you can never tell for sure until its up for sale on the website.
i would wait for the 07 also because...the new camry's don't have that many kitting options. that looks like OEM. you can't buy the factory kit after you buy a camry either.

Is there any way to confirm if this will indeed BE POSSIBLE? Toyota hasnt replied to my e mail yet....

Thanks so much for putting me at ease; I guess thats what I will do.

So I dont understand what the rush would be for......

Do you THINK though that one will even BE AVAILABLE for the SIXTH GENERATION; that is, an OEM ground effects kit?

When you say "new Camrys" you mean the CURRENT ONES that are out? THOSE HAVE the OEM kit to put on.....so, should I wait for the 07s which MAY NOT HAVE A KIT OPTION but then buy an 06 or 05?
