5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Guys! I have had 2004 corolla for almost 2 years...I like the toyota so much I traded with this new Camry 2005 XLE 4cy... I am seriously looking for Navigation....
Please give me ideas....
I was thinking of original toyota Nav sold on ebay etc by OEMVALUE.....or one of these Eclipse AVN 5435
Kenwood 7015P NAV
Pioneer AVIC D1
The OEM nav will require that you get the dash trim from the Nav equipped car (I don't think it is that expensive). It will look much better, IMHO, to keep the factory look. It just looks and feels more substantial. The draw back of OEM, however, is that you can't use most of the features while in motion, and no DVD playback when parked.
How will dash trim from the Nav equipped car fit with Eclipse? Do u know where can we get that for a good price......
What did u guys paid for Eclipse AVN 5435? My local carstereo guy says 2000 + 100$ Instalation......and if I want my steering wheel controls to work.....It'll cost me 100 extra...
isnt there an easy way around that? like to ground the brake cable on the unit or something
No. You can interrupt the speed sensor, but that wreaks havoc with the actual operation. And rumor has it that the 2005+ nav systems will not operate with this trick.

Wow, thats WAY too expensive. Go to a different guy... you can get the unit for $1500 easily. My friend knows a girl in the warehouse department, and he can get it for $1200. $2000 is WAY too much. If you pay more than $1700, you're getting ripped off.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
http://www.coastaletech.com/nav_kit.htm has a kit that gets rid of the I agree and the ability to enter destinations while in motion. Don't know if it works outside the Prius though.

GOOD LUCK. That guy has disappeared off the face of the planet. I ordered one last February, no response.
