Went to my NAPA store to get a trans filter for my 05 4cyl XLE with a U250E trans. They didn't have a listing for a U250E trans filter. They asked for the vin# so they could call the Toyota dealer to make sure my trans in fact was a U250E. Toyota verified it was. The toyota dealer said the reason they didn't have a listing was because the original filter is all metal and only needs to be cleaned and reinstalled. In all my reasearch I never heard of this. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks for any info anyone can provide.
Yes, it is a mesh screen. Autozone has some sort of replacement. I tried it, but on the next ATF change bought a screen from the dealer and for now have decided not to change it anymore.
Dealer has one, but if you cant find one its no big deal. IMO doesn't need replacement very frequently like old days. In addition to being less efficient, more like a screen, the newer highly friction modified fluids used today produce far less, if any gunk. My 02 still has the original, I drain alot though.
