Hey guys, I am thinking about buying a 2002 Toyota Solara but when you put the key in the door to unlock, it won't unlock and it only clicks. He said the mechanic said it is a tumbler door lock problem. How much would it cost to have it fix by a dealer in Orange County? Is it cheaper to buy parts to fix it? Please help and thank you.
The lock cylinder retails for $63.56 and I sell to members for 30% off MSRP so that would run you $44.49 plus shipping. I charge actual shipping costs plus $2.00 for materals etc. I am an authorized Toyota Dealer who sells Genuine Toyota Parts and a site sponsor here.
One thing you should know, whether you buy the lock from me or another dealer, the lock cylinder will be coded to the keys it comes with. If you want it to match the car, you'll have to have the lock cylinder recoded to the original keys before it is installed. this could run anywhere between $50.00 to $100.00 depending on local charges. Just something to consider. If you don't mind having two seperate keys, then you don't have to have it recoded. It is up to you.
