R&T: 2007 Camry SE v6 & Hybrid performance & FE data

From R&T May/06 issue

Very impressed! Don't know to choose which one:

SE v6 6.1s/14.5s 26.3mpg
or Hybrid? 7.3s/15.6s 37.3mpg

This is the right place to post it, right? I used to post on the wrong forum.

so far, edmunds 0-60 6.5s R&T 6.1s. More impressed is the fuel economy

And they said, "Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system is seamless!"

I have an 07 SE V6 and it feels faster than that. In good conditions 0-60 under 6 wouldn't be out of the question. Now, 1/4 under 14... that's not gonna be easy.

6 seconds for the SE is DAMN impressive....
BUT
Whats more impressive, is the 7.3s for the Hybrid!! That QUICKER than V6 5 speed times hahaha! Don't ya love technology !!!

Whats also to not, is that it takes 24 seconds to get to 110MPH for the Hybrid!!!!!!!!!!!

IMPRESSIVE!!!

man it would be awesome to get it run in the 12s or 13s. Family cars against Mustangs and such. Wow.

How is the handling of your SE?

hehe, not so fast... 1/4 under 14 that is IS350's territory

Good job on the post. I haven't gotten my May issue of Road and Track yet. Cripes!

It's too bad they didn't also include an I4 Camry to get a broader mileage comparison.
That Camry hybrid is amazing though, I'd take that over the V6 anyday for all the extra mileage PLUS being able to run in the carpool/HOV lane anytime traffic is bad (depending on where you live). Think of all the time and gas you would save. Who cares that it's a little slower than the V6.

I'm also guessing that the Hybrid Camry will hold it's values like the Prius, meaning they never seem to depreciate.

I imagine they will be just about impossible to get for quite a while.

I got the digital version

In the same issue, they also tested 280hp Passat 3.6, which pulled the exact same acceleration times as Camry SE, but with

skidpad: 0.77g (heavy understeer)
slalom: 60.2mph (heavy understeer)
0-60 brake: 138ft
FE: 20mpg (average)
...
