How about a St. Louis, MO, tint shop recommendation? Also, what about night-time vision - is it compromised? I've never had tinting before. 50 year old eyes may not be as sensitive as before...
Mr. Happy, in Maryland the laws say 35% which I've had and is way too light. I've had 20% on my last two cars and the only time I've had problems with visibility is while backing up at night on a dark street. If I put my windows down this is resolved. I have personally seen 30% tint and that would be what I'd get on my next vehicle. Jon. ps. I feel night time vision is improved from cutting down on glare from vehicles in your rear view.
This is an old thread but I just picked up my 08 TCH. In the manual it specifically says not to tint the windows. I was told it was due to the antennas and blue tooth & smart key reception issues.
Any one run into this issue? Or is it a "wivestail"?
Don in Seattle (Yes we do get sun...and like vampires...can't deal with it LOL

I have 20% on my rear windows, metallic tint. And I definitely have reception issues with my AM radio. On the bright side, FM reception, BT and SMART have no issues whatsoever. Go with non-metallic tint if you absolutely need to listen to your favorite AM stations.

I used California Tint and had the ceramic tint installed. No issues with reception. I had 25% in the backs and 35% in the front. Looked really dark when I had it installed, but it seems to have lightened a little since. Maybe my imagination though.
I picked up an '08 last week and I also need to have the tinting done. My previous car was an Accord V6 and I had 35% all round on that. The law here in Georgia says 35% within 5% + or - on the fronts, so I was going to go with that and put 20% on the back. What do you think? Will it look ok?
The car is Barcelona Red if that makes a difference.
Be a little careful with the tint. I hate to say it but I went with Johnson Ceramic tint (IR-40) Insulatir film on my 2008 Camry Hybrid. This is pretty light tint for the car as well. It was supposed to be specially designed for NOT interfering with radios ? Both AM radio AND XM radio reception was impacted by the tint ? The XM now cuts out when I go under tree's ? Did NOT do this prior to tint job. What a horrible place to locate the XM receiver inside under the back window ? On the AM radio deal I programmed several stations in prior to tint and after the tint 3 / 6 stations would no longer tune in. I am making an appt to get the film removed and will keep you posted. Non metallic films are not supposed to be an issue. If you don't care too much about AM and XM radio then go for it ! The Nav system, keyless entry, and other electronic goodies seem to be un affected so far.
I am not sure if I am going to try to go with Formula Pinnacle, Huper Optik or just give up with the heat rejection and go with the standard non ceramic films for the next go around !
FWIW , I went with FormulaOne Pinnacle non-metallic Tint and have no reception problems with AM/FM or the Factory installed rear shelf XM radio antenna. The Smart key also works just fine, GPS antenna is in the front so not affected (no eyebrow installed). While the cost is at the upper range of TCH tint pricing , I felt it was worth it...

Another +1 for Formula One Pinnacle Ceramic Tint .
I have had it on my previous two cars plus my wife's cars. No electronic interference issues, looks great, and has a lifetime warranty. The TCH was $300 for Georgia Legal 35% all around, except for the windshield, as I'm not a fan of "eyebrows"....
I had the IR-4 removed from my TCH and the AM reception AND the XM radio reception improved dramatically. I am not sure if the shop put the wrong tint on or the Johnson ceramic actually interacted with the AM and the XM ? I tuned it (SCAN) all 6 pre-set AM stations prior to the tint. After the tint only one station would lock in on SCAN. The XM radio would drop when ever I went under trees or wires with the IR-40 on it. Without it -> No problem !
Any one know if SunBusters in Austin is a good shop for Formula One Pinnacle ? I am thinking of going 30 % front (legal limit) and 15 in back or backs.
