Did you try taking off the plastic trim piece where the toyota emblem is to put it in there, or did you just go for the frame off the bat?
It doesn't look too bad where it is, but I paid over $100 for my license plate frames, so i'm reluctant to put anything on them, as well as for reasons of security!
I'm going to attempt the install on Saturday, so as long as the parts arrive in time, so I'll keep everyone updated as to how it went - maybe with pix if I feel energetic!

The Toyota Emblem has a plastic fastener attached to it that goes through the trunk to hold that entire assembly in place. Let us know if you manage to install the camera on the inside through that hole. The other option I considered was to buy a keyhole camera. I chose the BEC105 as it was recommended by OEMValue.com and it was 6volts and pretty much plug and play.
I appreciate hearing about the eclipse camera. I also had a professional install the VR3 wireless backup camera. It worked with some distortion and -not so great- view from the small monitor ...then had it removed and returned. What we really want here is a camera that hooks up to and works with the TCH nav. system. Hopefully someone will provide this soon. Surely there will be many customers interested in this.
I just re-read your install notes and saw that there are only 3 wires to the camera - 6v+, Ground, and Video+....is Video - not needed by the system? Does it just share the ground with the power?

If you don't want to do the Eclipse BEC105 - then call Toyota / Lexus parts at your dealership and get a price on the 2006 Toyota Sienna/ 2006 Pruis Reverse Camera ($674) or 2007 Lexus ES350 ($985) - These are factory OEM cameras that are installed on these vehicles & will plug into your nav's wiring harness, just like the Eclipse BEC105.
As you can see they are MUCH more expensive & will work & install the same way - you might as well go with the BEC105 which can be had for under $200 shipped from eBay!

The video- and gnd are tied together. I check with a volt/ohm meter.
It appears that www.OEMvalue.com has indicated that 4 wires need to be installed into the R10 harness.
Could you please list again (more clearly) how you wired up the harness with the BEC105's cable.
Pin 24 = +6V Power
Pin 23 = Video V- (Shield)
Pin 22 = Video +
Pin 21 = Ground
On the BEC105 camera I had, the red wire is +6volts - pin 24
the white and black wires are tied together at the cable plugs and you would hook them up to pins 21 and 24 of R10. Doesn't really matter which goes to where, but I put the black wire to 21 and the white to 23.
the yellow wire is video+ and I put that into pin 22 of the R10 plug.
Note that the diagram above shows the connections for the microphone, not the backup camera.

Thanks for the specifics - I realized after I posted that the wrong pict was posted
I'll let you know how it goes after the install on Sat
So - installed teh BEC105 on my 07 Camry XLE V6 w/ NAV today - it was pretty easy to do
Just be careful - remember what connector goes into the HVAC controls, because the same wire will fit into the NAV unit, & if you connect it to the radio instead, the car will not turn off the headlights & the nav system will come on with the headlights! (Stupid mistake, but it took me an hour to figure out!)

AFTER:
I will post pix of the exterior tomorrow when it's daylight, and after i've cleaned the car of course!

Is that the same HVAC connector plug as the BEC 105 connector that plugs into the nav? I've been looking around for a piece of Eclipse b/u cam connector plug. I promise to not to keep my hope high!
