we're glad your ok. Smoke comes from fire and if there is fire in the engine bay its totaled. Get your answers as to why it went up in flames. At the very least contact your insurance agency and see if you have a loaner car in your policy. I know we have ours at $20 ($20 doesn't seem a lot but insurance companies can get us mid sized cars for $20 - its discounted for them.) Good luck

Yes, a car fire when your love ones are still inside the car can be very frightening experience.
You might turn the whole matter over to the insurance company. Let them handle the dealer, and warranty claims. Insurance companies are very good at extracting money from responsible parties, this being Toyota.

Well, assuming you're posting a legit experience, I'm sorry your first post had to be a frightening and rather shocking experience. The VSC light signals an error in the VSC system and could be a malfunction in the VSC system or ABS system (esp. if the ABS warning light was also on). I'm not sure how it relates to engine issues or this particular fire. Perhaps there was a short circuit and a spark reached one of the orange lines which carried the high voltage?

Very glad to here everyone is OK. I'm old school and still weary about Hybrids as far as all the "bugs" being worked out prior to production. One thing I got from your post, I'll be headed to the store shortly to purchase a good under the seat fire extinguisher.

Thanks for the heads up and I do hope its an isolated incident because like you we really like this automobile.

Interesting, I already d/l the picture.

My Wife and I are VERY concerned about this.

I am taking the picture and original text to my dealer to see what he knows.

Yes there was a fire. Yes there were pic's. Someone removed all of the text without my permission. I am in the process of contacting TN to find out why this happened. There might be some legalities involved.

My wife, son and I was returning from Disneyland when our Brand New 07 Hybrid gave us a check VSC warning and then caught on fire. We were barely able to get out in time. It was a very strang and scary expereince. I am very concerned as to why it happened.

I am surprised that the posts were removed but they did go into specifics about what happened. Somone may be catching heat.

Today it was annouced that it IS a Manuf. default.
