How to remove baked egg on roof?

My car was hit with raw eggs at work today. Now the eggs have baked on the car sitting in the sun all day. My question is what is the best way to clean the baked eggs off the car? I went to a carwash to spray it off without much luck. Don't want to scratch the finish and I am not sure what will work safely on the clear coat finish.

Help???

I would put cold wet rags on it for several hours and gently scrape it off as it softens. Let us know how it goes...

Soaking it sounds like a good idea. Also, Meguiars makes a very nice paint cleaner after you get the initial big clumps off. A clay bar may be helpful for the smaller stuff.

As faldoc states, get it wet and keep it wet. Then gentle remove it, use soap and more water. Much like cleaning a frying pan, but you don’t want to scrape this pan to hard. Egg can stain the paint, do it ASAP.

There is a car cleaner aerosol called Tarminator. It costs about $3.99 at WalMart, and $5.99 at auto parts stores. This stuff takes off everything right down to the clearcoat. It's great for all kinds of stuff, like tar, bugs, etc. For really bad stuff, you can spray the Tarminator directly on the affected area and let it soak for a couple of minutes. You will have to re-wax the area after using it. As mentioned, egg may stain all the way thru paint, so clean it immediately.

Well, the best thing would have been to get it off of the car immediately, since your clear coat has probably cracked from the egg anyway, this would have avoided less damage.

Since you were unable to remove immediately, the best thing to do would use some type of bug/tar removal, let it soak, & gently "scrub" with a wet microfiber towel. Once you get all the egg off, wash the entire car. Then clay bar the area(s) that were hit with egg & wax afterwards.

If there are still small scratches / "cracks" in the clearcoat, then the damage is permanent!
