What's up everyone i was just wondering about how to get to the license plate bulbs. I'm looking to replace the stock bulbs with leds but can't figure out how to get to them. If anyone has already done this please chime in b/c it'd be very much appreciated. thanks
I've replaced mine with bright 5 LED white ones. You get to them by removing the few center fabric plugs in the trunk, and then pulling the light assembly out of thier holes. It's quite obvios once you remove the clips. Hope that helps.
How do you remove those pins that hold the cover. The way the manual shows doesn't work, it shows that i have to push the middle in the lift up. I'm trying to replace my license plate lights as well
removing the pins are really easy. take a small flat screwdriver or small flat tip. the pins are two pieces the big part goes in the hole and then the center pin goes inside the big part to expand the larger outer surface and make them tight.
to remove simply pry on the center insert pin and the center will come out, completely pull the center out and with your fingers then remove the larger mount from the hole, it also will pull out with your fingers.
once you do the first one you will realize how really easy it is. I use a small screwdriver for sunglasses to pry out the center first.
hey i got to the point where i removed all the pins but i'm still not too sure how to remove the bulb from that point, it looks like there's a plstic thing holding it together, i was too afraid to pull it out
i'm trying to do the same thing as well. I got to the part where I take out the trunk lining. Do I need to loosen the clips on the sides of the lights or do I just pull out the light socket directly?
Update: Never mind I figured it out. You need to turn the grey housings clockwise. Don't be afraid to twist. Camry 2007 (Gen 6)
I have read about lots of different ways and types of pins which are used to hold the lining in, but I have not seen anything about how to remove the pins in this picture. They have a slot which looks like u can insert a flat screwdriver into them from the side, and i have tried prying but have had no luck. Any ideas? Ok so I can not figure out how to add a picture to this post

If you can't figure it out after reading post #7...................
The pins I am referring to are not in two pieces as post #7 explains. Mine are different. They are one piece and look almost like a screw. but there is nothing to hang onto and a flat head has to be inserted perpendicular to the "head". Must need a special tool to remove them? I would post a picture if I could. but it will not let me.
Does the top of the head look like a philips screwdriver can go into it? Your car may have plastic screws with a plastic socket around the screw.
If this is the case, then use philips screwdriver and unscrew the head counterclockwise. Once it is out, you can remove the head from the socket and the socket from the cars lining.
You don't need to know the voltage of the bulbs. All you need to know is the type of bulb needed for the license plates. Everything is plug and play since most LED bulbs you buy these days come with built in resistors. Basically you need a 194 Wedge LED Bulb. Then all you have to do is plug it in correctly. If it doesn't work the first time, just switch it around (180 degrees) and it should work.
