I don't recall right off the top of my head but it explains it in detail in the manual.

I recall it goes something like this:

Resetting the engine oil maintenance

data

The engine oil maintenance data must be
reset after replacement of the engine oil.
Reset the data by the following procedure:
1. Turn off the hybrid system with the trip
meter A reading shown.
For details, see “—Odometer and two trip
meters” on page 138 in this Section.
2. The “POWER” switch must be set at
ON while holding down the trip meter
reset knob. A message “OIL MILEAGE
RESET MODE” will appear on the display.
3. Hold down the knob at least 5 seconds.
A message “COMPLETE” will appear
and the message “OIL MILEAGE
RESET MODE” goes off.

Unfortunately it seems the Trip Odometer A gets
reset. So if you need any long term counter use
Trip B.

I think I read somewhere that if you start holding the knob before you turn the car to the "on" position that it will not reset trip A. Can you confirm?

You MUST hold the button before you turn the car on. It's always reset for me. I'd be delighted to learn a way NOT to reset it.
