Thumbs down North Florida Chevron's are now E10

Just a Heads UP for Florida TCH Drivers - From Jacksonville to Gainesville I've driven in and thru Four Chevrons that now have "up to 10%" Ethanol stickers on their pumps . I'll drive by two more tonight and pull into them too to see if they are also pumping "up to E10". If this change is a Universal Chevron change then I will be terminating my Account and move to another Top Tier.

Hopefully Shell will allow 100% gasoline to be available...

Sure Enough - The two other Chevron Gas Stations I pass on US301 (@I-10 and Starke) both have stickers "May contain up to 10% Ethanol"

I did like Techron , but with this development I'll say GoodBye to this Top Tier ...

Where I live, all gas is 10% Ethanol. I do not think you can even buy "100%" fuel anymore regardless of which brand you choose.

Did they lower the price at the pump when they went to E10 ? Or do you remember a Marketing Campaign or did they just change it after midnight on the Sly ?

I was able to pump 100% gas at a Shell Station this morning. But I think our Governor sold out and is pushing E10 down here... Time will tell , but I have a strong dislike of E10 - Ask a Boat Owner...

Disregarding the Political/Eco debate over E10 , I know that E10 will lower your MPG (which is why most of us went Hybrid in this section) and reduce the longevity of both O2 sensors and Cat. Convertors...

Come to think of it , I can't think of any positives of E10 other than the profit margin of the distributors...

Gas here has been E10 for years, theres no station you can go to thats readily available that has 100% gasoline, which is probably part of the reason MPG is starting to slip, and why the EPA ratings have dropped.

I didn't notice that gas got any cheaper either, it's still about $3.50 here.

We have been on E10 for at least one year now in Virginia (Northen VA). There was certianly never a decrease in cost at the pump and I believe it was sold as an anti-pollution measure. It originally cme into being in 2006 when they phased out MTBE.

I know that you can still get 95% in some rural areas where I live, sometimes 100%. To get that you have to be way out of the metro area like Roanoke.

Aside form poor fuel economy, my motorcycle simply does not run well on E10 fuel. I am very concerned about this political trend. This is also a concern for owners with older cars. While many modern cars will run on E10 (albeit with decreased MPG and performance), many older cars cannot tolerate the 10% blend.

The state of Minnesota is mandating the use of 20% Ethanol in all pumps by 2013!

I didn't realize that most of the country had gone E10... Must be that the South is their last frontier to complete conversion. Lots of posts on the terrible increases in price at the pump with much less outrage on the ethanol conversion.

I suspect this is how they will get the old vehicles off the road , change the formula at the pump and the old engines won't run...

Well I did say at least one year. I just checked, it started in March-May 2006, so two years now, just in case anyone was wondering. Maryland jumped on the bandwagon at the same time (May 2006).

Looks like the Florida Governor sold us out and has mandated that all gasoline in FLA will be E10. The BP's have converted and now all but a small town Shell on my route have "up to 10% Ethanol" stickers. What a great job that industry did at marketing an inferior product ,just another in a line of examples of the citizens of this country getting .
