Question Auto a/c too smart?

Has anyone noticed this or am I the only one? My 08 TCH automatically changes the air flow mode (face to feet/feet to face) depends on the outside temperature and inside temperature, or at least this is what my experience tells me.

I remember setting the fan to blow to face only during the day and by night when I go in the car, it automatically adjust it to blow to feet. I normally set my temperature to 70 deg with ECO on and only use the lowest fan setting without A/C turned on.

Also, since I keep my temp at 70 deg, I expect the air that blows out to be fairly constant right? But I noticed that during the day the air would tend to feel a bit cool while at night it would feel a bit warm.

I really want to know if this is the intended design for the a/c or is this a bonus feature I'm getting.

It's normal. At night, it's cooler so it figures that out and blows warmer air and the reverse in the day even though you didn't touch the temperature setting.

If heat is required, it always blows to the feet first. Namely because your feet operates the pedals and warm feet = proper operation but also if you feet's warm, your body tends to "feel" warm as well. That and heat rises.

I don't know if it applies to the Camry but in the Prius, it's also two-tiered. This means it'll recirculate the air below the dash to heat up the cabin quicker but it'll blow fresh air in the "face" vents to prevent the windows from foggy up. Smart!
