Interior lights draining battery

We bought a Camry Hybrid four months ago and we've already had the starter battery lose it's charge twice. Our toddler sits in the back seat and sometimes turns on the overhead lights and since they stay on indefinitely they drain the battery overnight. We check for this most times but sometimes we miss it. It would be nice if there was a better solution for this. I looked in the manual and didn't see any way to disable these lights or make them turn off automatically (although I might have missed that information) so I wanted to post here to see if anyone had ideas for how to handle this.

Thanks,
Davidhybrid

Welcome and Congrats on the TCH.

Hate to read your first post as a problem. IMO - Tape the switch or maybe pull the fuse to prevent usage or explain to your toddler that the car loses power when the switches are activated or a .

just remove the bulb. The fuse would probably effect more then just the rear light. Once he thinks he broke it he'll probably stop pushing the button.

You might try replacing the bulbs with led units. They draw a very small amount of current compared to factory bulbs.
