Question Toyota Paint Problems ???

Help ! I have a Black TCH on order....due in a few weeks.....I just noticed a number of owners questioning Toyota paint quality. Is this still an issue? You owners out there....have you had problems with this? I know black is tougher to keep clean, but I sure do not want to see a new car with known scratch, swirl, and chip problems. Maybe I just "read" too much

paint

Yes paint is very poor on the dark colors especially black and looks like chit after they buff it out, swirls ect. the new paint is invironment safe and has been really downgraded for quality since. chips easy and scratches easy and after 6 months looks like chit.

It's not just Toyota though, several manufacturers have downgraded their paint durability, probably because of more strict regulations and such.

Sounds like "no lead" in paint is problem

The more I looked into this, it sounds like a potential problem across most manufacturers. No more lead in paint = less durable ?? I am not letting it stop me from buying the TCH. I am thinking hard about the "clear bra" protection .......... just not sure which product is the one to go with

MplsTCH,

The new paints are mandated by the EPA. They are a water based paint that emits fewer VOC's than reducer based paint. Just as glossy but less durable than before. The bright side is that the paint is easier to polish before it's waxed....
