I can use some advice. I placed an order for a 2009 TCH on May 15th and yesterday I called the dealing about the delivery status of the car. He told me that he did not know when the car would be available - whether is was 3 weeks or 3 months, he did not know. He then went on to say that because of the gas price situation, Toyota could not keep up with the demand and that purchasers now were paying up to $3,500 over sticker. My contract basically was $1,500 under sticker. So I wonder if the dealer wants to get out of the deal by saying that I am not going to be able to have the car for a long time and that maybe I'll walk away. By the way, I put $3,000 down when I signed the contract. Can any provide some advice or insight into what is going on? I did put a call into the dealer's customer relationship manager although he is currently away on vacation.

I would guess that it is a bit of both. The dealer probably does not have much information to give to you and for them that is frustrating. Also, with the $5k difference in price he would not be heartbroken if you walk away. I would stick with it. I do not suspect that you will get better terms from another dealer. This is a seller's market.
I ordered mine June 2 and took delivery yesterday (July 9). TCH with Nav, leather, sunroof, heated seats. Came in about 1 week early, as they were estimating mid-July when I placed the order. Mine was made in Georgetown.
[I work for the Mfg company... There's huge demand for hybrid now as you could guess. We can't keep up.. the main issue is our battery supplier's capacity.. That's it. So current wait has been 3-6 months depending on the spec. I don't belive there's any other explanation besides that. I just ordered one for myself yesterday... Will arrive aprox mid-nov! Another dealer told me they were 4-6 months out. So its a simple supply/demand situation.. with hybrid batteries as the bottleneck for everyone to be able to get what they want!
Good luck.. you'll be totally pleased when it arrives!!
oh man i hope mine doesnt take 4-6 months. I ordered a 2009 TCH on July 4th and they said 4-8 weeks for me
I'm in Texas, and TCHs have been scarce for about 2 months now. I called a ton of the dealerships in Texas even though they get them from the same supplier. Maybe you should try doing the same...even if in an adjacent state. I got lucky and a few of the dealers actually kept my info and called as soon as something came up.
One called because they had one coming in and it wasn't attached to a buyer yet (small town), and the one I ultimately purchased was a TCH that the prospective buyer backed out on at the last minute. You could also get lucky if someone can't obtain financing on the delivery date.
Ordered mine July 4th, 2009 TCH moonroof, push button start. All standard stuff plus Hood deflector and Visors on a Alpine White body. I want mine now!
I ordered mine on May 4th, and was supposed to arrive today. I was told yesterday that it would arrive on Saturday. I got moonroof, leather, nav.
I would have had it 2 weeks earlier if the transport driver would have tightened the chains on my TCH that was on the back of the transport. But since he didn't, my TCH flew off the back at 65 on a freeway. Oops.
lol that is just so very sad . When you anticipate for something when you wait, it seems there's always a snag, something to prolong that anticipation. I hope that doesnt happen to me, i need to start saving gas money... I have a 2005 Mustang GT that drinks gas.
