Window Tint Input

Did not have much luck doing a search on these questions.
Where is the radio antenna on the 09 TCH?
Will a metal based tint material affect radio or navigation systems?
Is night driving visibility through side and back windows "lessened"?
Happy owners of tinted windows.....what brand/material did you use?

I am in Minneapolis area and probably have a number of film options, hopefully with experienced installers

Living in Florida I've always tinted my Cars and it reduces the interior temp and IMO adds to the looks. The radio antenna is in the rear window and the NAVI antenna is the round black ball at the front center of the dash (no effect unless you add an eyebrow-which I did not). On the TCH I went with Formula One Pinnacle Tint which is non-metallic and comes with a Lifetime warranty. I spent the extra $ for non-metallic tint as I have a Factory XM radio and the Xm antenna is on the rear deck inside the window so it must beam thru the rear window. I have no problem with XM and/or AM/FM signal. The night visibility is not lessened to any negative degree. My tint reflection is restricted by State Law so I bought 35/15/15. The only gotcha is that with the Factory auto rear mirror the tint does cause the autodim to take longer as it blocks the autodim mirror sensor from getting its signal later. My human vision is not hindered at night from this tint. I also experimented with a Valentine V1 detector from my V8 vehicle and it showed rear arrows just fine. I recommend Formula One Pinnacle non-metallic tint - it's worth the extra cost...

Just had mine tinted last week. Not sure of the brand but it is a non-metallic film. 35% is the maximum NC will allow. No problem driving at night and no problem with radio signals.

I'll add another Tint Comment. Regarding the rear third brake light at the base of the rear deck : I had the installer include tint between the brake light and the rear glass - there is enough room to get the large one piece rear glass tint in there and still press out the air bubbles. Unlike some car's third brake light having no access and the installer is forced to cut around the brake light casing - the TCH does have access but the installer will need more time and a bigger tip...This is just my personal preference and to each his/her own but I like the look and the brake light LED's are still plenty bright...

Thanks to all

Thanks to all who post here. Thanks for the tint input, as well as the feedback on the other questions I had.........well after about 8 weeks, we pick up our TCH tonight... the wife is excited (her car). I have an appointment tomorrow morning to have the Tint done......went with Formula One Pinnacle from a good shop in the Twin City area. If I do not have the sunroof done the cost is 309.00 ..... 35.00 more to do the sunroof. Has anyone here had the sunroof done as well? We tend to drive with the shade open, so I am leaning towards a tint there as well? Wife also liked an aftermarket spoiler that was shown in the dealers showroom. I'll post a picture and feedback on if it seemed to have affected MPG....... that was my only concern (it looks great though)

MplsTCH,

Glad to hear that you are going with the Formula One Pinnacle. I am having mine done Friday with the same tint. Our prices are close as i was quoted $315.00 for the sides and rear. I forgot about the moonroof so thanks for bringing it up as I will go with a darker tint on top...
