Insight into Tank Avg

Can some give some insight into the "Tank Avg" on the multi-display on the dash. Does it automatically reset at fill up? Because I did a fill up and it didn't appear to change. Also, is this more or less accurate than the MPG reading on the nav unit? The MPG on the nav unit you can reset easily but not sure how to reset the Tank Avg or if it is supposed to be automatic. Manual gives litte info on this.

Suppose to reset automatically but I had one instance recently where it didn't. Don't know why. As you said, manual gives little info on a lot of subjects.

The 'Tank Avg' in the MFD resets with each fillup.
