mudguards- would they impair mileage?

I'd like to put a set of mud guards on my new TCH, but thinking about it, I'm beginning to wonder if they would impair the airflow around the car enough to reduce the miles per gallon. I know that a lot of attention was paid to this issue when they decided to 'hybrid' the Camry. Any opinions?

No, adding mud guards will not change your mileage to any degree noticeable.

I'm sure that if you did controlled testing in a lab, you might measure a very slight decrease (like a tenth of a mile per gallon- if that much). In the real world, you won't actually see any difference.

The way you drive will be much more important to your mpg's than adding mud guards.
