Kendall Blended Oil for TCH

I just had my 10K oil change on my 09 and asked the dealer what kind of oil they use. He said they use Kendall Blended 5W30. Does anyone know how that compare to the most popular pure synthetics and would it be beneficial if I switched, or is the Kendall just fine?

Thanks

At the least, your dealer should be using 5w-20 (dino or synthetic) or better yet 0w-20 (synthetic only). Either of these two grades will help with your mileage, get oil to the bearings faster when cold and are REQUIRED according to users manual. That is not to say other viscosity grades will not work, just that they are not recommended by Toyota.

Any decent oil of the proper viscosity (0w-20 or 5w-20) will work. Have them use one of those at your next change.

If you plan on extending your oil change interval by switching to a synthetic oil I would go with a pure synthetic as opposed to a blend. If you will still change oil at 3000 miles the blend is fine. Don't have any experience with Kendall myself but Availability and ease of performing oil changes are both factors to consider...

Lots and Lots of postings here and elsewhere regarding what's the proper weight of oil to use. No Conclusions have ever been 99.9 % agreed upon...
Some dealers prefer to use 5w-30 in warmer weather. I switch between 0w-30 and 0w-20 AMSoil . The trick is to make an educated choice of oil and filter and then change them at the same interval over the life of the vehicle...

Welcome and Congrats on your 09 ...
