Question What Were They Thinkin???

I happened to be looking at the tires on our new TCH yesterday and noticed that the fender liner/wheel well splash guards inside the fender wells are made of a plasticy-fuzzy material. Very thin. Very weird!!!!

I can see this material used to reduce weight, prevent rust, etc., but it looks a lot like the material that's also used inside the trunk and some other places. Used in the wheel wells it would seem to me to be a first class dirt/mud collector.

Is this typical of all TCHs? Probably yes.... but any thoughts about it???

Yes and it's also used on the Avalon. It's used to reduce noise from the wheel well both road noise and the water splashing in it.

Also, njerald, nice mirrors!

Mine are fine after 31 months of rain, snow and ice.

Thanks, I love the turn signal mirrors. Even use the power fold once in awhile.

Ice chunks in the fender wells??? 'fraid not, my friend! They are long and distant memory. And I want to keep it that way!!

The only ice I want to see is surrounding my Shiner Bock in the ice chest!

did you get the JDM model? I always wanted power folding mirrors but never got it (I don't think Toyota puts it anywhere except on the highest Lexus models). They're either fixed or manual folding.

No on the JDM.

These were much cheaper ($255 delivered, unpainted cover) + they are heated.
