New Rims/Tires. Now, Spring Choices?

Hey gang. Been lurking for awhile, checking out what mods everyone is doing. Alot of very good looking TCHs here! I had a tough time deciding on wheels and finally went with a set of Lexus G-Spiders with 235/45R18 Kumho Ecsta ASX tires. I went with these as my oems were beginning to hydroplane in VERY shallow water at highway speeds...scary when traffic goes into panic stops.

Initial impressions: I don't feel any real increase in ride harshness due to the sidewall height. Although they seem to turn "easier" at low speed, they do feel "heavier"...meaning the car does not seem as snappy from a stop. The tires are very quiet at all speeds. I look forward to the rain to check the hydroplaning resistance.

Now its time to get rid of the fenderwell gap. I want to drop it somewhere between 1.0"-1.25" all around but do not want to sacrifice the ride. I did some reading here, but didn't really find anything that discussed "ride quality" with the H&R springs...anyone have experience they can share?

Ah, skip the feedback...I just ordered the H&R springs. Should have them here and installed before Xmas. I'll post another pic when they're in.

Thanks! Just a tint and wheels/tires so far. I have a lot of money "lost" on two of my other cars (04 GTO & 01 Yukon), so this one and the wife's 06 Civic coupe are staying close to stock.

Well, I hope your H&R springs worked out well for you, but if you did the proper research first, you would have found that springs designed for non-hybrid Camry will not work really well on the TCH...

Lowered TCH

Did your rear end up bottoming out with the H&R springs?

I did read your thread, way back in August...bought a set of SE rear springs based on your experience. But your thread, as well as everyone elses, was devoid of any constructive information regarding the installation of H&R springs on a TCH.

So I figured that I would be the guinea pig for the H&R springs on a TCH. But after installing the new tires/wheels and an Ultra Racing anti-sway bar, I was content with the ride and the stance so I have not done anything further.

Next tire change I will be dropping from the 235/45R18 to a 235/40R18 tire, so maybe with the shorter sidewall I will want to install the springs, and can resurrect this thread at that time.

It won't be long, I drive 40k miles/year so probably late fall/early winter.

I have not installed them yet...as I said above, I am happy with the ride quality and stance (fender gap) with the current 235/45R18 tires, but will likely install the springs with the next tire change when I go to 235/40R18 tires.
