As you all now, the standard locking mechanism is set so that touching the driver side handle with key in pocket only opens the drivers door while doing the same on the passenger side door unlocks all of the doors.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the settings so that touching the handle on the drivers door unlocks all the doors at once? I get irritated when I have passengers and I open my door only to hear them all clunking away at locked doors until I can hit the unlock button, and now that I have a remote FOB, I don't particularly like taking the key out of the pocket.
I have the same question as mgoblue6202. I know the information is in the manual, but can anyone post a step-by-step "translation" of the manual? For me, at least, the description in the manual isn't clear, and I'm afraid I'll really mess things up without detailed instructions. Thanks!
I had ask my dealer about doing that and they said it was a safety issue and it couldn't be done. Well, I hate to tell them but it can be done. Like others have said, its in the book; sorry, don't have mine right this second to tell you where its at in the book. Took me about a minute to do it.
Do the following within 3 feet of the car: (With the car off)
1) Press and hold the Lock button and any other button on the keyfob together for 5 seconds (until the car beeps at you).
Done.
The 2007 owners manual is extremely clear and straightforward. The 2008 and 2009 manuals are somewhat more confusing- as they use symbols instead of words to explain how to do it. To me it's still self explanatory, but I could see how it might be confusing to some.
98CamryLE: Thanks for the instructions. They worked perfectly, and it took me all of 5 seconds.
The instructions are on p. 40-41 of the 2009 manual. I suppose they were trying to make the instructions clearer with the pictures instead of text, but your one sentence made much more sense to me.

Safety issue, as in my wife's case, is she doesn't like all the doors being unlocked at once because some boogyman could get in one of the unlocked doors in a split scecond, and. aslo when the car was stopped it use to unlock all doors at once, now only the drivers door unlocks when stopped.
