Climate Control

I'm trying to resolve my confusion on the climate control system. If I keep it set on automatic and a temperature of let's say 72 degrees, will that keep the cabin temperature fairly constant? When would I depress Auto and A/C?

Thanks.

Press auto. AC light also comes on. Set to desired temp and away you go. However, you may find it may over compensate when you first turn it on if it is cold outside. When everything equalizes it should stay at your desired temperature.

Njerald,

To respond to your question about what part of Automatic is confusing...just to make things simple for you - if auto is depressed, why does air conditioning also need to be depressed?

On both my XLE and my neighbor's Hybrid, pushing the Auto button turns on the A/C light and fan. This is also what my Owners Manual states....

If yours doesn't do that then I would say your parameter were changed by a dealer at some time.

Function to turn the A/C ON automatically by pressing the AUTO button when the blower is ON and the A/C is OFF

The factory setting on the above is Auto but it can be changed to Manual.

This is but one of a number of A/C, lighting and locking functions that can be modified by the dealer.

Hope that explains it.

Yes, pressing auto also turns on the AC light. At that point, if you depress and turn off the AC function, the auto light remains on. What would be the functionality of the climate control system at the point? How does it differ when both the auto and AC lights are displayed?

Ah, it turns the AC off.......................

You would not get the AC to control the temperature down or to act as a dehumidifier in the cabin.

ergo, it would no longer automatically control the temperature.

Did you ever read your Owners Manual?????????????
