How does the hybrid camry work?

I know how the Prius works with its electric motor. But I also know that it only works until 47KM/h then the petrol engine kicks in.

How does it work with the camry? Is it the same that after 47KM/h its petrol engine and anything below its pure electric like the Prius? Does the camry have things like regen braking etc?

Too bad this car is not in Australia!

Hello

The system is just like the prius.... i may (if the conditions allow it) drive on electric until the speed of 40 miles/h or approx. 66km/h....

the camry, like the prius, is not an electric car until that speed, it is possible to drive only electric, but you must be VERY gentle with the gas pedal... it is better to increase the speed to about 50-60km/h and then coast with electric.... it is easier.

the prius may have an EV button that will allow you to stay only on electric.... but not for long periods (about 2-3 kms in full charged battery)

just like the prius, it has regen and the engine turn off when you stop the car (if the engine is at its normal temp)

try a prius... the camry is similar (but since it is an heavier car donīt expect great acceleration in electric mode... the gas engine kicks in)

huh? The Prius is 65km/h as well (42mph). The 47km/h must be in EV Drive Mode (actually pressing the EV button). Under normal driving, the engine will shut off below 65km/h. If you're above, the engine will cut the fuel but it's still pumping the pistons.

Also, it's not "electric up to 47km/h then switches over to the petrol engine". It will use the petrol engine from 0km/h if it thinks it's necessary. It's all about using whichever means of propulsion that'll get the best fuel economy.
