Horrible poise when started

My wife started her car yesterday to go to Austin and it made a horrible noise like a fan belt or a belt or plastic in the radiator fans. I had her turn it off and opened the hood. I saw nothing out of place. She restarted it and the noise was gone. Anyone else ever had this on an 09 TCH?

Okay wife just called as she is leaving Austin for home and she said there is a triangle almost in the bottom center of cluster and it is flashing. I will look in the manual when she gets here. It could be the reminder to change the oil and have nothing to do with the noise heard yesterday.

Manual says the blinking triangle is the whole system and it did say when I looked at the info center in the middle of the gages where the little engine and or outside temp is shown to check for service. It also said some things have a outside buzzer as well as inside, could that loud noise we heard have been the outside buzzer? It really sounded like a cogged belt jumping off the pulley.

I doubt they will have an answer if they cannot duplicate it. I have had mine do this on occasion as well, but not enough that I can duplicate it for the dealer.

Mine sounds like there is no oil in the engine for a few secs........

Now I feel stupid! Dealer found nothing, but when I got home I opened the hood just to see if maybe there was a dead animal that may have gotten in there and I found a foot long piece of clear hose I had put on the radiator overflow bottle cap to keep any overflow, if that ever happened, from spraying all over the engine. Well it had come off the spout and slipped in between the belt and the pulley. I know this because there was some burn marks on the hose. So the hose is now out of the car. So much for trying to improve Toyotas design.

Glad it worked out. I don't think mine was your issue, but the car runs fine)
