Hybrid Brakes

At what mileage do y'all normally change out brake pads on a 2007 Camry Hybrid? I have 32,000 miles on mine. Thanks!

can't speak for a camry hybrid exactly, but we have an 06 Highlander Hybrid with 105K on it and the front brakes are only about half worn. don't forget that your brakes will wear a lot slower on a hybrid since the traction motor does most of the braking.

There is no mileage that they typically give out. It is entirely based on driving style. The only way to be sure how much life your brakes have left is to take off the wheels and to see how much pad is left.

At 32,000 miles, I'd hope that you would have a decent amount of pad left, but if you (or a previous owner) was really hard on the brakes, you'll only know if you take a look.

Inspecting the brake pads should be part of your regular maintenance routine.

Non hybrids tend to eat up the rear brakes real fast but hybrids are seem much better in comparison. I'm near 30K and my brakes f/r are still very good. It will vary with your driving style as others have stated. Best thing is to check the pad thickness yourself or have a mechanic do it.

I have almost 45k on my hybrid and was getting alot of brake dust on the rear. I checked and the pads still had alot of life left but since I had them apart I replaced the pads. Problem is I am still getting alot of brake dust.. Any suggestions would be apprecaited.

Thanks

install some high quality ceramic based pads, just be sure that the pads you install on the rear do not have a higher coefficient of friction than the fronts or you'll have uneven braking.

I installed Kleen Wheels on my TCH to keep the brake dust off the wheels. I have used these on several cars with no ill effects.
