I would call a dealer or two in your area and get a price on a replacement fob. I bought 2 replacement fobs from Keyless Ride (
www.keylessride.com) when I bought my 2009. The fobs were $225 each. When I took the fobs to my dealer, they tried but couldn't program them. They called Toyota tech support. It wasn't clear to me exactly what they had to do, but they apparently had to reprogram one of the onboard computers, and then program ALL 4 of the fobs. It took them over an hour to do everything, and they charged me $95. That probably wiped out any savings from not buying the fobs from the dealer. So, whatever you do, take all your fobs when you do get a new one. Also, I had to take the fobs to a locksmith with the proper machine to cut the mechanical keys in the new fobs. Even my dealer didn't have the right keycutting machine, and I think the parts guy told me around $100 to order a new key (just the mechanical key) directly from Toyota.
