2010 TCH Prices?

I think I have a 2010 TCH on order from my local dealer. At this time he won't give me a price on the car and I am under no obligation to buy if I don't like the price. I have the Consumer Report Car buying guide that lists the invoice price and MSRP.

I am curious what people are paying over invoice for their 2010 TCH?

According to Edmunds TVM for a random ZIP code in Oregon, the average is ~$800 over invoice.

Best plan before walking in is to have a final price (OTD - out the door, includes taxes/fees/registration/etc) and make that your offer and then stick to it. If there are any options you want add them in up front (and discounted) to your OTD offer. If you want a Toyota extended warranty, there are a couple of dealers that will do it over the phone for 1/2 the price that you get at a local dealer. Midwest Toyota rings a bell, but a quick search of the forums will confirm that.

Remember that your best bargaining tool is your feet.

Good luck and let us know how it went.

What a difference a few months makes. When I bought my 09 TCH, the dealer gave me $1,000 more for my trade than anyone else would, along with knocking an additional $2,000 off the sticker, and there was a $2,500 rebate to boot. At the time gas was $2.09 per gallon and after the deal he commented that at 2 bucks a gallon he couldn't give a hybrid away. Just a suggestion but gas prices normally head down in winter. Maybe you should wait a while and see what happens?

Which package did you order? None, UP, or UT? I can help you better if I know what MSRP you are working with.

Njerald, that price is about $250 over invoice for the internet price, 500 over for the value price. That is about the going rate in Chicago right FWIW.

What is on the truck from KY is a Blue Whisper Mica with the following packages: FE CQ LA UP Port Installed Accessories ..: CF R7

MSRP: $30,318

I asked for fog lights but that didn't make it on the car even though IT IS an option for 2010.

The car is supposed to arrive any day now.... This was "ordered" in September. I guess Oregon is the last state to get TCHs

I forgot to mention that Oregon has a $1500 tax credit for a Hybrid vehicle which will expire on 12/31/09. Soooo I hope this sucker get here before that!

Bluemoon, I'm heading home for the night, but your car is scheduled to arrive at the dealership between 12/13 and 12/16. I would say that you should be paying right around 28k plus or minus 200 for the car. That number does not include the tax credit, taxes, doc fees, etc. As long as you are in that range, that is the going rate in the chicago area anyway. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Jeff

Jeff, you must be clairvoiant! The car arrived last night and they said I could pick it up today! The way this whole deal has gone I am worried it will not go smoothly. I've got the numbers from Consumer Reports car reports that show all wholesale cost, transport fee, and dealer holdback. I guess it all depends on how hungry they are at the end of the month and end of the year.

So I guess my bottom line is going to be $1000 over dealer invoice. I'll start lower and see where I end up.

Thanks for all the help; I'll report what happens...

Bob

Sounds like you have $$$ to throw away.

You've done things ass backwards and given the advantage to the dealer.

Okay so enlighten me!

I walked out after getting the run around on the invoice price. I am running off Consumer Reports Car buying guide.

The dealer shows the invoice price as $25,750

then adds:
Destination chg 750
Toyota Dlr Advertising 345
Dealer Holdback 523
Wholesale Financial Reserve 261

Total: $27,629

I don't get the Advertising, Reserve, and holdback. I thought the holdback should be a deduct not an add! Toyota pays the dealer the holdback right, not the consumer??? The only "pack" on top of this is the $200 trunk/mat set that I didn't want and they say Toyota had to put in

I'm not clairvoyant, I just have access to the nation's locate system

Since you have the numbers, I'll tell you they are dead on, to the penny. From your post, it seems the dealer wants to sell it for $28,629, is this correct? That is too much. Cut it by at least $500 and go buy the car. That would be the going rate right now. At least in my area it is. Like njerald says though, you definitely gave the dealer the upper hand by ordering the car without working on the numbers first.

Special ordered my 2010 TCH. Received delievery 5 weeks later.
Received 6% off MSRP upon delievery.
I suspect you can do better on a unit already on the lot.

Closed the deal today! $27,634, which was $4 under their stated "invoice" price. I only had to walk out twice

When I got to the Finance Mgr to pay for the car he offered me a lot of extra services to the tune of about $3500. I declined them all, but he said he really recommended the 7 yr 75000 mile extended warranty for $1980, especially for a hybrid.

What are other folks paying for a Toyota Factory Extended warranty. Do you think I need it?

The hybrid components are covered for 10yr/100,000. Do s search on the net for the warranty, you can find it for less than half what you were quoted.
