What is typical start up for 07 TCH?

My 07 TCH upon getting into vehicle and pushing start, electric motor drives wheels but then gas motor starts up for like30 sec and then shuts off. Is it supposed to this? every time we start vehicle, even if its warmed up already? just seems sort of strange, i expected it first thing in morning but not every time starting car. Any ideas on this?

This is normal, my car does this as well. When you first start it up (regardless of how warmed up the car is) the gas engine kicks on after about 30 seconds. If it is not needed, the car promptly goes back into "E" mode. I am not sure why it does this, but I liken it to the car just running through a systems check and readying the gas engine in case it is needed.
