2nd car

My first car a VW passat broke down on me a year ago... ever since i have been riding the bus and saving all my paychecks finally my mom threw down another 5k so now i have 20k to spend..
Ive got my eye on the camry hybrid 2008 it looks sexy and i drove a highlander hybrid my god was that the smoothest car ive ever driven..
ive got a few questions tho:
1st: how reliable is the camry hybrid technology?
2nd: can i throw an intake to make my MPGs slightly better?
3rd: any major differences between the XLE and LE?
4th: Any known transmission problems?
5th: I used the "B" option on the highlander and it was amazing how much it helped with braking downhill.. How reliable is this braking technology im looking to use it alot will it be reliable?
415-272-0080 please someone txt me and tell me more about their camry hybrid

  1. CU surveys indicate quite good.
  2. "Throw an intake" to make it louder and nastier-sounding. Won't do anything else on the Atkinson cycle engine.
  3. There isn't an XLE or LE, per se. TCH gets the upgrade package (6 CD changer, alloys), the leather package, and the Nav package. My take on the Toyota Nav is that it's rather lame and pricey to own (both initial cost and map update cost) compared to portables like Tom-Tom, Garmin and Magellan - but does give some additional info on the hybrid systems. You also lose 2 CD capacity compared to the JBL in the Upgrade package (4 vs. 6).
  4. Car doesn't really have a 'transmission' of the regular kind. It has a power split gear set that allows the computer to coordinate the ICE and the motor/generators to make the car go.
  5. The "B" feature kills FE because it keeps the ICE running more often. If you need going down long grades, fine - but otherwise, let the ECU figure it out.
  6. Regen braking charges the traction battery - and the ECU keeps it all within specs.

Less so than the average car. You'd likely be disappointed with the results of 'pushing' a TCH than a 'sportier' ride, though. The car's forte is good FE, smoothness and quiet - and it really isn't much 'sporty fun'.
