How do you charge the A/C in a hybrid camry??

Hi folks.

Heres the deal. I have an 07 camry hybrid and the AC is blowing warm. Normally when this happens (with my past vehicles) I simply add r134a with a pressure gauge and hose. However, in the Hybrid, once some isadded, the system goes haywire and starts turning the system (radiator fan) on and off in 2 second intervals. The needle on the pressure guage goes from low to danger and the the system shuts down, bringing the needle back to low. This repeats and repeats until I let pressure out. Now, in all my past toyotas, this was not the case. Is there some trick to doing this simple task in the the hybrid model? please help. Thanks.

PS: Would you all say 43.4 average is good in the summer?

Sounds to me like it is some other kind of problem other than low FREON!

Forum rules do not allow me to post a link to the full service manual (but there are some easy to be had links out there). That may be of some help to you. I am willing to bet that the standard owner's manual is going to be of little or no help.

The MPG that you mention is very good, much better than what I can get out of my TCH.

I agree with what others have said about service manual, you should not attempt working on the A/C without the manual. The compressor on the TCH is electrically operated, unlike the mechanical ones you may have worked on before, and there are other control inputs involved here than just refrigerant pressure. The fix is most likely not related to adding freon.
