Smart Key Weirdness

This just started happening with my 2007 TCH. It does not happen with my 2009 Venza. Both have Smart Start/Key.
Both my wife and I carry two FOBS (one each for the TCH and Venza).
I start the TCH with both of us in the car. No problem.
Before entering the garage she exits the car so there is more room. When she does so I get the "Key Not Detected" alarm. I am still in the car, the car is running and I have a working FOB. I can park the car, shut it off, start it again without any problems or warning messages. When using the FOB as a normal FOB I can open/lock the doors from many feet from the car so I don't think it's a battery issue.
Anyone else have this issue?
Tnx,
J

Is this a new problem or just something you started to notice recently? It is possible the battery in your wife's FOB for the TCH is stronger so that is the signal that gets picked up when the car is started, then the no key detected when she gets out. I have not experienced this , however

It is a new problem.
So I guess my question might be:
If two FOBS are in the car (call them A and B) and the car is started and the car chooses A and with the engine still running A subsequently leaves the car (B still in the car) should the car automatically switch to B FOB?
??

Similar Issue

My 07 was doing that too about a month or two ago. Except that it was just with one FOB in my pocket. I thought it was the battery, so I bought a pair of new batteries and replaced them in both FOBS. Then I took turns carrying my two FOBS and the car still gave me the "key not detected" after it had been turned on already. I'd go as far as taking the FOB out of my pocket but even having it in my hand would not make the message go away (I'd have to put the FOB to the start button (as if trying to start the car with a dead FOB). I would also try to leave it in the cubby hole next to the 12v plug and it would still do the same. I eliminated the battery as the problem and it behaved the same with BOTH FOBs, so I was lost. Then all of a sudden, it quit doing it. I don't know. I know I didn't offer a solution, but I just wanted it to be known that yours is not the only one acting weird!
